Five Books That have Positively Influenced Me

Shackleton's Way - Margaret Morrell & Stephanie Capparella $9.00 on Amazon

I am incredibly biased in my love for Earnest Shackleton. Shackleton's way is the narrative of how he and his men survived for over 2 years in the Antarctic in the early 20th century. The author's do an excellent job of breaking down leadership elements of Shackleton while infusing relevant individuals who have been inspired by Shackleton in the more modern day.

Rework - Jason Fried & David Heinemeier Hansson - $15.00 Amazon

What makes a successful business? Rework looks to explore this idea and go against convention of what most people are taught in school about business. Rework is a vital book for anyone who has leadership aspirations but considers themselves an out of the box thinker in the macro & micro sense.

Tuesdays with Morrie: An old man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson - Mitch Albom $8.00 Amazon

Tuesday's with Morrie is a book that many people I know read in high school. It is worth reading again and buying to put on your shelf for that rainy day. This book is anecdotes about life from a dying man suffering from ALS. Morrie's wisdom is worth hearing regardless of the age.

The Art of Asking: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help - Amanda Palmer $10.00 Amazon

This book is about a woman (Amanda Palmer) who has a belief and love of people. It follows her journey from college busker to being an internationally known musician to marrying author Neil Gaiman. Palmer's belief in people - her asking of complete strangers for help, advice, and condolence
in times of darkness is inspiring.

Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World - Cal Newport $17.00 Amazon

Cal Newport is a force of a writer who speaks about concepts people need to hear in the modern world. Deep work is about focus - how to focus & why it is so vitally important to focus if we are to reach the highest levels of work. Deep Work breaks down not only the why but the how of why one should commit themselves to the practice.
