First Blog - Creation November 11th

The above picture is that of a supernova, the ultimate form of creation. A word about this blog and myself. I am imperfect messy, scatter-brained, & have never blogged before. Altogether intimidated by the process I want to commit to it. I make a commitment to honesty, transparency and the learning process.

Been thinking about creating a blog for the past month, going back and forth in my head here are my top 10 thoughts and at times insecurities in regards to blogging:
1. I’m going to create a blog.
2. I’m going to create a blog and people are going to hate it.
3. This will impress all those girls from high school and college that overlooked me.
4. It has been two weeks and I haven’t written my blog.
5. Asked Facebook today for ideas about my unwritten blog, mildly positive results.
6. Talked to my Mom and Dad vaguely about blogging.
7. Thought about 10 possible topics for my first blog, status: Blog still unwritten.
8. Realized how scary rejection is.
9. This is quickly becoming my own boggy-man.
10. Yolo, if that is still a thing.

The main topic for today’s blog is creation and how I believe it is vital to living a dynamic life. Creation is different for everyone – some paint, others poetry, creation can be both tangible & intangible. Creation is not a concept that can be defined by anyone but the creator themselves.

Creation is leadership: Indubitably not everyone is a leader in the Steve jobs way of rewriting how a generation communicates and expresses themselves. That being said there is an inherent leadership quality within creating. By the simple act of creating you bring people together that may not interact with one another otherwise. Even if unsuccessful the idea of you being a leadership sticks in the minds of others long beyond the act itself.

Perfection is a Fallacy: There are no perfect products. Everyone is (or should be) constantly trying to grow in their lives to become better. Perfection is a fallacy, nothing is perfect and aiming for perfection while an admirable goal is often more trouble than it is worth. Simply creating is enough, working your brain in a way that strains it is much more valuable as well as time efficient as reaching perfection.

What I am today is not what I will be tomorrow: Progress is reached through consistent work rather than a sudden breakthrough. It is sexy to tell your friends about the interview you have from the fortune 500 company that you have dreamt of working for all your life. It is unsexy to talk about the abstract eastern philosophy you spent 6 hours today reading. Neither is more important than the other, thinking of every day as a step forward is what is most vital. By this same logic allow no one but yourself to judge your progress.

Creation is empowering. It leads to opportunities of an almost mystical nature. Creation is difficult – the fear of people not being interested in what you offer real.
